A New Year

New Year's is usually a let down, a disappointment even. But not this year!

This year, a gaggle of us strays went to where Jason works (Le Marrakesh) to ring in the New Year. After drinking at my place, we thought that'd be a good place to hang out, especially since we don't have to pay cover and all that.

Jason working while we....

we were drinking at home

and then off to the party!

I've also added the link to our wedding website the right hand side over there --->

Please check it out and sign the guest book when you have a chance!

i'm blue

i don't know why, but i feel blue.
i'm looking forward to the end of the day because i get to pick up my engagement ring and wow it will actually fit. but i also feel blue.
maybe it's the weather?
or maybe because weddings are expensive?
maybe it's because i haven't shopped for any new clothing since we got back from ireland?
maybe it's the fact that Jason is sick?
whatever it is, it's making me feel blue.

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas

so we had our first snow last weekend which was weird. getting snow in november is quite an unusual occurrence and this is the 2nd year in a row that this has happened! what's going on man?

jason and i have put up our christmas decor, lit up the tree, everything is pretty much set for our party on sunday. i'll be in a baking frenzy this weekend plus we have appointments to meet up with photographers for our wedding.

speaking of our wedding, i've finally set up our wedding website. i'm still constantly adding stuff as time goes by so it's not complete by any means. the more things we get done, the happier i am. we will be meeting up with the wedding coordinator at the Four Seasons this month to put down our deposit and draw up our contract. all very exciting!

i'm going to buy new shoes tonight after work. i hate shopping for myself. it's a painful process - trying on different things. i'd rather shop for bags. you pop it on your shoulder and voila! you either love it or hate it. i always love it. i can't hate any handbag.

only thing i want to win is the lottery

The movie sucked. BIG TIME.
The script was terrible. The story was not believable. Direction....was there any?? They had a lot of great actors in it, but the movie stank.
At least I was lucky enough to not pay money to see it. Although I did pay with my time.
This one should've gone straight to video.

and i never win anything

Yesterday, Crave 95.3fm called me and said I won 2 tickets to the premiere of "August Rush" tonight. Last week while I was bored at work, I decided to enter every single radio show contest and lookee here, I actually won something! The only downside is I have to drive out to Ditchmond to see it.
Oh well. Free movie. Can't complain.

wedding date

Finally, our wedding date has been finalized now - September 27, 2008!
The church (St. Augustine's) has finally been confirmed so the next big thing we need to confirm is the reception venue. We've visited a few venues such as, Hotel Vancouver Fairmont, Renaissance, Terminal City Club, Coast Plaza Hotel and none of them are as professional as the Four Seasons. What a fabulous room. Fabulous hotel. Fabulous wedding coordinator. He knows exactly what he's doing. At the other places, they just showed us the room and said, "have any questions?" but this guy at the Four Seasons took time to chat with us about what we would like, what services are available at no charge and what hidden costs are. Loved it!! Here's a photo of the room:

Unlike the other rooms we've seen, this one is not a basic square/rectangle shape. It's got 3 entrances/exits and is a diamond shape goes diagonally. Also, how lovely that the dance floor isn't in the middle of the dining area. It is off to the side near the bar so dining will be much more enjoyable without this empty vast space in the middle of the floor. We also won't be having our head table at the forefront, as if we are preciding over the whole reception. Instead we'll have an oval shaped table in the middle of the dining area so no one is sitting in a line, but just like all the other guests. Who wants to just talk to the person to your left and right? BORING. This way too, I can turn around and talk to guests at a table behind us.

I also finally have my bridal party picked out (Jason is still deciding his):
Melissa is my MOH and Sandy and my cousin Jackie will be my bridesmaids!
We are making great progress here folks. After we book the reception venue, we don't have to worry about the nitty gritty till next year!!
