best of class

i've probably blogged about this before, but one of the biggest pet peeves i have is spending time with brats. spoiled rotten, selfish brats. you know what i'm talking about - the kids who think the whole world revolves around them and their insignificant drama that unfolds on a daily basis.

well, i spent half a week with two younger cousins of mine from california and i must say that they are GREAT kids. GREAT. not at all like those freaks on "my sweet sixteen" or kids nowadays who think everything is owed to them without having to work for it.

i hope that...one day....IF we have kids, they'll grow up to be just like my cousins samantha and geraldine. two smart cookies with the biggest hearts and most honest souls.

i'm addicted to my ipod

so i've been spending the last couple of evenings in front of the computer looking at various applications, tv shows, movies, videos to download onto my new ipod touch.

so far, i've downloaded a few free apps (bowling lite, sudoku, falling balls, taptap and pacman), a bunch of ricky gervais/karl pilkington podcasts, a rick mercer report show and an audio book. Oh and i've also subscribed to learning how to speak french and filipino podcasts as well.

i'm addicted!

if you have any favorites that you think we'd enjoy, please let me know!

40 days to feel horrible about yourself

it's lent and i've forgotten i'm not supposed to eat meat on Ash Wednesday. i thought that rule was only for Good Friday. we're also not going to Church tonight either. zero for two.
to make up for it, i have decided on not giving up just one thing for lent, but TWO!
Lenten Resolution 1: No coffee
expect side-effects such as grumpiness, fatigue and bitchiness. even more so than usual.
Lenten Resolution 2: No swearing
this will be a tough one and hard to keep, so i'll be keeping some sort of "jar" and put money in it everytime i swear. proceeds will go to the offering basket on Easter sunday.

i bet you're wondering why i'm not giving up rice for lent.
that's because that would be crazy!
what would i eat?
potatoes???

work hazard

An excerpt taken from an article on mytelus.com:

"Const. Gerry Rundel has maintained that Dziekanski was holding a stapler up to his chest with his other hand in a fist just before he was stunned five times with an RCMP Taser in the early morning of Oct. 14, 2007."I venture to say I don't know where that could have ended, but it could have gone bad," Rundel told the inquiry into Dziekanski's death."There's no doubt in my mind that he took up the combative stance, and he had every intent to injure, attempt to injure, harm us officers and anybody in the public."Rundel has already testified that he feared for his safety and saw the stapler as a weapon, but expanded Wednesday on just how much of a threat he perceived."

How many times has borat come up to me and angered me in such a way that I want to throw a stapler at her?
Many times.
How many times have I actually done it?
None.
How many times have I grabbed my stapler and held it like I was going to hurl it at her head as she's walking away?
If I had a penny for every time....

My point is: Good thing she doesn't have a taser gun.

happy day

the no bonus streak has ended. we've had two years straight of no bonuses due to frequent and severe losses, but last year 2008 was a successful year for us as our loss ratio was only 38%.

which means i finally get to enjoy a bonus!!

momma's gonna buy herself a brand new suit!

vday in the city

jason and i never really "do" valentine's day, mostly because besides mother's day, vday is a busy time for restaurants. i think we've "celebrated" valentine's day maybe...twice. they were lovely too. but this year, i must say was the best.

this past valentine's day, jason was working, so i had my evening planned out. my loyal vday date, Melissa, is vacationing in Arizona, so i would be spending it by myself, which - honestly - i was really looking forward to. i went to richmond with a friend the night before and saw the felicity dvd sets on sale for $24.99 which is a STEAL because regular price is $79.99. Don't ask me why, i thought that was ridiculous.

anyway, i bought seasons 1 & 2. i also had awesome chinese leftovers from the night before for vday dinner. i was set!

i started the day making jason brunch. since he always makes dinner/lunch for me and other people, i thought it would be a thoughtful gesture. sadly my eggs were overdone, my bacon and toast was cold and i guess i cooked way too many sausages for one person. but it's the thought that counts!

after jason left for work, i started my afternoonwith a run around the seawall - 12 km in 1hr 3mins (not bad eh!) as it was a beautiful day. lots of couples walking along the seawall, including a guy dressed as cupid. i do not kid.

later on, i had my dvds set with my dinner on the table, and a pillow and blanket on the couch for total veg-out time. i finished volume 1 of season 1 and suddenly had a craving for bubble tea. (thanx jay) so i thought i'd go venture out.

with my sweatshirt, no makeup and converse sneakers, i walked to robson and HOLY COW what a big deal valentine's day is to so many people.

i went to capstone tea or whatever it's called, as it's the closest place that has bubble tea (and it wasn't very good). i went up to put my order in and the cashier looked at me, tilted his head to the side and said, "are you having a good night?" if he hadn't tilted his head, i would've thought he was just asking me how my evening was, but in this case, it was a full out tilt with sad puppy dog eyes look. he told me my bubble tea would only be a few minutes.

so i wait at this table with a newspaper and I SWEAR, i felt everyone's eyes on me. i looked up and noticed the place was packed with couples and couples only. one girl with a huge stuffed animal seated in the chair next to her, kept looking at me like i was the saddest sight she'd ever seen.

tapping my foot and staring at my paper, i'm impatiently wondering where's the bubble tea? then i thought, HEY! i'm not a sad sight! i'm married! i HAVE a permanent valentine!

so i started waving my hand around as to attract their attention to my wedding rings.

HAHA that's so pathetic!

but so me :o)

jason and i "celebrated" valentine's day on sunday. we walked from our place to best buy on cambie (where i got season 3 of felicity) and had dinner at banana leaf with a night cap at the sylvia hotel.

a wonderful day and a perfect way to end a perfect weekend. :o)

i'm still here

but haven't had a chance to write anything new or share anything interesting. maybe marriage does that to you?

HAHAHHAHA

to my one and only reader, Hi Ryan :o)
