what to do what to do

a bit of a dilemma and i don't know what to do.

my cousin is getting married in rome on august 8th. our wedding is on sept 27th.
the cost to fly out to rome is $1800 per person +accommodations which is just under $1000 for 5 nights. it's pricey. that's $4,600 for me and jason.

we were thinking maybe i'll just go alone. but that's still going to be about $2500 - $3000. that's a lot of money. that can pay for our DJ, our transportation, our flowers. we're saavy. we can stretch a dollar when it comes to little wedding details.

now our other option (the most viable option) is just to go to their reception in the states on the 13th. it's very close to our own wedding, but i want to at least attend one of his celebratory events. we just have to make sure all our planning is done and that we can afford to leave for a few days before our wedding. it's a much cheaper option as well. we can probably get a good deal for a round trip to san fran and hopefully we can stay with one of my aunts for the weekend.

so....we'll see what we decide. unless we come across some extra cash, it sounds like rome may be a no go, but not confirmed yet. still weighing our options....

i say screw the wedding in canada and get hitched in a double ceremony with chris! you'll have your wedding and honeymoon taken care of in one trip.

srsly, we'll be sad if you guys don't make it to rome.

i'm going to go see a travel agent tomorrow and see what they can do for us. $1800 per person is a lot of money. that would pay for our flowers and a dj easily.

thanks ry. it's a tough predicament. when i agreed to be in their wedding party it was in 2006 when my cousin first asked me, but now ..... it's a tough call. we have our own wedding to finance. we are leaning toward the american reception, unless the travel agent can get us a good deal. it's also in august which is high/peak season so i'm thinking it will be expensive regardless.
