Yesterday was the much awaited premiere of "The Hills 2." So I'll jump right into it. The main character, Lauren Conrad, who works for Teen Vogue (who got her internship with little if NO experience??) was offered a summer internship in the most lovely city in the world, Paris. What does the girl do?? She decides to pass on the chance of a lifetime to stay home for the summer with her loser deadbeat boyfriend at a beachhouse. It's not like they moved in together, permanently. They just moved in for a summer. That's 4 months. The woman (or shall I refer to her as a "girl"), decides that being with her boyfriend is better than developing her career opportunities. I was appaulled that her lazy, spoiled friend, Heidi, even suggested that staying with her boyfriend at home might be best because they were in a "better place" and how can she leave him now?
Puh-leeese girl. I'm glad Whitney went to Paris instead and that her boss said Lauren will always be known as the "girl who didn't go to paris." I also loved how her boss asked her summer went with her boyfriend at the beach. HAH! LOVES IT.
I can't believe they air crap like this and I can't believe I watch it! But I'm more concerned for the younger people who watch this shit and possibly get the idea that staying home with your boyfriend instead of advancing your career goals, your dream goals is what a woman's priority should be. Especially now, when all I see are all these twenteens and young girls who dress exactly like Avril Lavigne or behave like an airhead so they can get the guy -- I think girls nowadays are so obsessed with material things, with superficial things that they lack any sort of intelligence since they believe and strive to be whatever they see on TV. How can Lauren Conrad be the heroine of this show? She's a ditsy, superficial bore with no personality and lacks commonsense. Her coworker should be the heroine. I'd rather watch her go about her day than watch twiddledee and twiddledum make out with the princes of malibu.
AND THEN, after watching the Hills, I flipped the channel to Entertainment Tonight, where Vanessa wannabe Lachey, was covering the Super Bowl and - GET THIS - she described the Super Bowl as the BIGGEST SPORTS EVENT IN THE WORLD.
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!
WTF - The biggest sports event in the world is the Superbowl? Is she referring to the world of the United States?? Do they ever see past their borders??? I'm pretty confident in saying that THE WORLD CUP is the biggest sports event in the world. Probably even bigger than the Olympics! I just can't imagine or see american football as the biggest sport in the world. That's really exaggerating it. Talk about the funniest example of american patriotism and pride. That's just the funniest thing I have ever heard in my life!!
Wow. I need to quit american tv and stick to Corner Gas and Black Books.
